The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 30: PiggieLuv's Double Gradient Rainbow

Hey all! So today, we are attempting a nail art tutorial. I found this simple, and very cute one by I would argue, the greatest nail artist EVER, PiggieLuv.  Seriously, check out her blog. It is amazing. She does everything from crazy freehand work, using fiber optics, to simple designs like this one that pretty much anyone can do. She always includes videos so you can see how she does it. One of the things that I really love that she does is make up various uses for the OPI Sheer Tints line. When I first saw them, I ran out and bought them immediately, but then was at a loss as to what I would use them for. They sat unused for a while after a few nail fails. but PiggieLuv's designs have made me dust them off, and made me glad to have them in my stash as well as the OPI Color Paints. I've used them so much in this challenge.

For this look, I used the following:

Nicole by OPI - Make a Comet-ment at the tips.
China Glaze - Fairy Dust  over the entire nail.
OPI - Be Magentale with Me.
OPI - I'm Never Amberassed.
OPI - Don't Violet Me Down.
OPI - I Can Teal You Like Me.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 29: Shadow People

Hello beautiful people! Today, we take our inspiration from the supernatural. I thought about this one for a while. I mean, there are so many things to choose from. Side note: my graduate research actually had to do with the supernatural so I'm kind of a nut about it! Well, after a while, I thought about something that freaks me out more than anything, and it's shadow people. This manicure was pretty simple, and it's a little reminiscent of the black and white mani I did earlier in the challenge, but I wasn't sure exactly how I would showcase the shadow people. In the end, I did a little gradient to make it easier to see them.

For this manicure, I used the following:

Sally Hansen - Black to Black
Sally Hansen - Tag Ur It
Liquitex - Basics acrylic paint in Mars Black

For this look, I used the following:

Sally Hansen - Tag Ur It for the base color.
Sally Hansen - Brisk Blue for the bars.
Liquitex - Basics acrylic paint in Cadmium Red

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 25: Golden Globe Gal

Hell everyone! For today's manicure, our inspiration is fashion, and I'm currently feeling Emma Stone's looks this year on the red carpet. Her stylist just knows how to dress her. My favorite look of hers this year was from the 2015 Golden Globes. She wore a cute Lanvin jumpsuit that was simple and elegant, so I pulled my inspiration from that.

The jewel embellishments of her outfit.

I wanted to tie in the long bow train she had, so I incorporated that into the accent nail.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 24: Harry Potter

Hey there! Today, the inspiration is from a book. I didn't choose any particular book, but instead, did a manicure inspired by the Harry Potter series. Really, it was just an excuse to try out more new stamping plates. Excuse the wonky placement of the house crests. It was a pain and a half to get them on correctly, and I got tired of doing and re-doing them to the point where eventually, I would have to repaint the base colors and wait for them to dry and more attempts at re-stamping. And yes, I used the movie colors for Ravenclaw. I didn't have a good bronze color for stamping. Shhh...

The products I used for this were:

Gryffindor nail:
OPI - Malaga Wine for the base color.
Whim - Dipper in Gold for the crest.
Aiyoohehe - Stamping plate hehe026

Ravenclaw nail:
Essie - Hide & Go Chic for the base.
OPI - Silver Canvas for the crest.
Aiyoohehe - Stamping plate hehe028

Slytherin nail:
OPI - Jade is the New Black for the base color.
OPI - Silver Canvas for the crest.
Aiyoohehe - Stamping plate hehe027

Hufflepuff nail:
OPI - I Just Can't Cope-Acabana for the base.
Sally Hansen - Black to Black for the crest.
Aiyoohehe - Stamping plate hehe029

The 31 Nail Art Challenge - Day 23: Captain America: The First Avenger

Hey beautiful people! Today, our inspired look comes from a movie, so I decided to do one of my absolute faves. This is the Captain America: The First Avenger  manicure. I am the biggest Captain America and Chris Evans fan so this was an obvious choice for me. This was a great opportunity to try out my new Superhero plates from Aiyoohehe. They have some amazing plates, so if you're looking for this one, or any of the other Avengers, check out their website. I think if I were going to do this one again, I would maybe use a darker polish for Cap's stamp, but I have used this color before, and it was dark enough. So eh, live and learn.

For this look, I used the following:

Sally Hansen: Tag Ur It for white backgrounds.
OPI - Amore at the Grand Canal for the red nail.
Revlon: Super-Powered for blue nail.
OPI - Silver Canvas for silver stamping accents.
Sally Hansen - Rapid Red for red stamp.
Sally Hansen - In-Prompt Blue for blue stamp.
Sally Hansen - Beach Ball for larger glitter.
Sally Hansen - Red, White & Hue for smaller glitter.
Aiyoohehe - Stamping plate SH001

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 22: Purple Rain

Hey there! Today, the manicure inspiration is a song. The song I chose was "Purple Rain" by Prince. I actually got to see him in concert a few months ago, and I did a much more simplistic version of this mani for the show. Now that I have the time, I wanted to redo it properly.

Close up

For this manicure, I used the following:

Cover Girl - Vio-last for the base color.
Finger Paints - Purple Palette for the purple glitter.
Seche Vite - Top Coat for rain droplets.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 21: Electrified Web

Hello, beautiful people! As we get into the homestretch of the 31 Day Challenge, the last designs are meant to inspired by particular prompts. Today, we have the "Inspired by a color" prompt, which I wasn't really sure of the meaning, but checking out some other bloggers, I took their interpretation for this manicure. Basically, I chose a polish from my collection, and made a manicure based on the name. I went through all of my swatches, and settled on Electrified Web  from Revlon's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Collection. This was a collection that came out last year, and I bought one color, and loved it so much that I had to go buy the rest. I love every single color in this collection, so it seemed fitting to give this one a try for today's mani.

For this look, I used the following:

Revlon - Electrified Web as the base color/
Sally Hansen - Tag Ur It for the white accent on web.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 20: Le Cirque

Well hello there! Today is a tiny victory, because we had the water marbling prompt, which I had never tried before, and I think it turned out alright for a first time. I decided not to do my entire hand, because I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull this off, and also, I'm too busy to be doing this. Lemme just try one. Start slow. I did just the accent nail, and I'm pretty happy with the result. I didn't really choose the color scheme so much as these were the only three polishes I had that I knew for sure would work since I did a lot of research as to how to do this. I love how they look together. They reminded me of cheerful, fun circus kind of colors. Don't ask me why. Anyway, after watching video after video, I found this one really helpful for a first timer like me. You might want t check it out.

For this look, I used the following:

Sally Hansen - Jazzy Jade for base color of all but accent nail.
Sally Hansen - Tag Ur It for accent nail base.
Sally Hansen - Fuchsia Power
Sally Hansen - Mellow Yellow
INM - Northern Lights for  holographic microglitter top coat.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 19: Anyone Seen Star Lord?

Howdy! Well, today, we had galaxy nails as our prompt, and I will start off by saying that I cannot do galaxy nails to save my life. I did them before, and they were a mess. This is my second attempt, and they're infinitely better than the first which tells you how terrible the first ones were. Anyway, these are galaxy nails if the galaxy were a hot mess, and the Guardians of the Galaxy were nowhere to be found. That's the story I'm going with.

For this manicure, I used the following:

Wet n' Wild - Black Creme as the base color.
Sally Hansen - White On
Sally Hansen - Jazzy Jade
Sally Hansen - Fuchsia Power
Sally Hansen - Blue Away
Sally Hansen - Vanity Flair
Maybelline - Clearly Spotted for black and white glitter.
INM - Northern Lights Fine glitter top coat.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 18: The God of Mischief

Hello beauties! For today's prompt, we have half moons, and for this, I decided to let my fangirl out, and do Loki nails! This was actually a surprisingly easy manicure for me. It went pretty quickly. Hey! Maybe I'm getting the hang of this.

For this manicure, I used the following:

Sally Hansen - Go For Gold for the half moon accents and helmet.
OPI - 4 in the Morning for the leather background.
Wet n' Wild - Black Creme for the black detail.
China Glaze - Take a Hike for accent nail and green accents.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 17: Grey Falls

Hey hey hey! I hope you are enjoying the nail art challenge so far. I certainly am. Today, we have glitter nails. This is one I've done a few times before, but I normally do them with an autumn colored palette, so I decided to change it up this time, and do a neutral color. This is a very easy manicure I learned to do from a YouTube video from one of my favorite nail artists, Elleandish. I love this mani because anyone can do it!

For this look, I used the following:

Essie - Chinchilly for the base color.
Essie - Ignite the Night for the glitter.
OPI - My Signature is DC for the silver streaks.

OPI Fall 2015 Venice Collection Limited Edition Review & Comparison

Hey there! Finishing up with the Fall collections, I have the OPI Limited Edition swatches for the Venice Collection. There are just three polishes, so I won't bother putting them under a cut. Let's get to it!

Okay, so first up, is St. Mark's the Spot. This is a gorgeous electric blue shimmer. It had a very nice formula. It was opaque in two coats. Please excuse the air bubbles. It was hot that day, and my husband kept turning the fan on, and I had to keep turning it off.

As I am a fan of blue nail polish, I was almost certain I had a dupe, but not quite. This shade is very similar to Super-Powered by Revlon, which comes from one of my favorite collections ever, last year's The Amazing Spider-Man collection. I swear each shade is to die for. The color is exactly the same, but the shimmer factor is much more evident in Super-Powered.

Next up, is Venice the Party? This is a beautiful cerulean metallic with some shimmer. I feel like this kind of blue is pretty popular, though I did not have a dupe in my stash. It had a nice formula. Opaque in 2 coats.

The last one we have is Baroque...but Still Shopping. This is my least favorite of the entire collection. I feel like I've seen a better version of this from Essie. This looks so pretty in the bottle, but just comes out so ugly on the nail. It's lumpy. It somewhat looks like hammered gold, but not quite. It's very blah, and just looks messy.

Close up of the glitter

And that wraps up the OPI Fall 2015 Venice collection. The limited editions are pretty, but they're just so-so to me as far as doing anything new. My favorite would be St. Mark's except that I have a similar blue that really shimmers, and I get distracted easily by sparkly things.

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 16: Hey Fred

Hello beauties! Today, we have geometric nails for the challenge. Kind of a weird color inspiration I think I did without really thinking. I've been watching A Nightmare on Elm Street while I do my nails, and somehow red and green ended up in this manicure. Coincidence?

For this look, I used:

OPI - Alpine Snow for the white accent nail.
Essie - Dress to Kilt for the red nail and accent.
China Glaze - Take a Hike for the green nail and accent.
Sally Hansen - Go For Gold for the gold nail and accent.
Sally Hansen - Black to Black for the stamping polish.
Bundle Monster - Stamping plate BM-44

OPI Fall 2015 Venice Collection Review & Comparison

Hello beauties! I have been so bad these days with keeping up with the swatches. I had these ready last month, but go so swept up in the The 31 Day Bail Art Challenge, that I haven't had the time to post these. Bad Bee! Anyway, I have been using a few of these in the challenge, and I really love so many of these colors, so here we go!

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 15: Lovely Lace

We are just about at the halfway point of the challenge! I am really enjoying it, but now I'm ready to wear some of these manicures for more than a day. Today's prompt is delicate print so for that, I used a new lace pattern stamping plate. Not sure if it actually looks like lace, but the pattern looks delicate enough I think.

For this manicure, I used the following:

Sally Hansen - Brisk Blue for darker blue color.
Sally Hansen - Blue Away for the lighter blue color.
Messy Mansion - Stamping plate MM56

The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 14: Fleur

Hello! Today's prompt was flowers so I did a reverse stamp for this one. It was pretty simple, but just time consuming, but I think the end result looks good!

For this look, I used the following:

Sally Hansen - Lickity Split Lime for the base color.
China Glaze - Take a Hike for the stamping polish.
China Glaze - Santa Red My List for darker flower.
China Glaze - Astro-Hot for the lighter flower.
Born Pretty - Stamping plate BPL-024 for the floral accent nail.
Born Pretty - Stamping plate BP-L015 for the leaves pattern.
